STORY-LINE BEHIND THE SCENES BY JEN TURANO:

Behind The Scenes set in New York high society, is filled with laughter, fun, and mystery.  Permilia Griswold, wall flower of the society set, hides on the fringes of the ballrooms.   Born to a miner who stroke it rich, part of the new wealthy of New York, Permilia is a step out of time with the high society’s gentility.   Thrifty, smart, and awkward, Permilia and her step-mother are ever at odds as Permilia stumbles and humbles her way through society.

During one of her escapades, she hears a murder plot against Asher Rutherford.  Permilia’s determined to save him from himself when he does not take her warning seriously.  While behind the scenes, much more’s going on.  Come along with Permilia, Asher, and company as they ferret out the latest secrets and plots.  My reviews of romance novel, Behind The Scenes, follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING,DEVELOPMENT:

Not only is Behind The Scenes a fine romance, it has a lot of humor; I laughed repeatedly at the antics of Permilia Griswold.  Seeing high society from her perspective was refreshing.  Permilia’s awkward, uncoordinated, and let’s face it, walks to the beat of a different drummer.  As a result, she and others like her, the ones not as pretty or poised, or like Permilia hear a different drummer, find themselves the wall flowers of the balls.  How hurtful this must have been for the girls who did not have Permilia’s fortitude.  Does this bother Permilia?   Not in the least as she has other dreams and ambitions.

The Rogue’s Bride, cover

STORY-LINE THE ROGUE’S BRIDE BY LYNN WINCHESTER:

Author Lynn Winchester’s novel, The Rogue’s Bride, takes the reader back to the west and the town of Dry Bayou.  Aimee Prentice, on the run from her life in Alabama, comes to Dry Bayou as a mail-order bride.  Gaston Mosier, harboring a deep dark mistake from his youth, decided he would send for a mail-order bride and to a small degree get on with his life.  He wanted a bride who would be quite, biddable, unassuming, and have his children; everything Aimee is not.  Upon meeting, Gaston appears cold and mean;  Aimee gives the impression dull-wittiness, as well as, a fire cracker with a short fuse.  But evil is also lurking in Dry Bayou.  Is it waiting for Aimee?

Can these two come to term with their past, and forge a lasting relationship? Gaston needs forgiveness, if only to himself and Aimee need protection;  will the misunderstandings, misconceptions, and secrets continue to color everything they do?  My reviews for romance novel, The Rogues Bride, follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Author Lynn Winchester out did herself with the characters of Gaston and Aimee.  Gaston, as a lot of us do, carries guilt,

Sole Connection By William ODay

Sole Connection by William O'Day
Sole Connection, Cover

STORY-LINE SOLE CONNECTION BY WILLIAM ODAY:

Sole Connection follows a short span of time in the life of Charles Wilder.  Professor Wilder’s life was wonderful.  He loved his wife, Isabel, to distraction; they both loved and cherished their daughter, Emily.  Life was good.  Then fate stepped in and Charles and Emily’s life imploded, only to rebound and implode again.  How much can a daughter and father take and still go on?  Do the Gods look down and laugh at the anguish humans endure?  My review of  Sole Connection follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Although I fully expected I would not like this short story, I found myself immediately enmeshed in the pages and longing for more at the end of the bookSole Connection is an intense look into the life of Charles Wilder; a look which left me in tears. I felt his anguish and sense of lost as well as his hope and joy.  ODay skillfully crafted this story-line, filling the pages full of human emotions and desires.  He also demonstrated we are at the mercy of something other than ourselves and what we wish or want.

ODay created a love story of such large portions, I was amazed at the emotions I felt.  This is not your typical romance by
