In To Know Her Calling, Louise meets a masked stranger at the skating rink. Many skaters are wearing beautiful scarfs, which two beautiful employees helped her put on; explaining she could buy the scarf or turn it in at the end of her night. Having fun, trying to skate after years, and of course falling, a masked stranger comes to her rescue; giving her pointers and the scarf to keep. Raul, the masked man, could not keep his eyes off the beautiful woman he helped on the skating floor. The attraction’s mutual. She ask him to come dancing with her and her brothers the next night. Things are moving fast; is romance within God’s will for Louise and Raul?

Raul’s a mystery covered by a scarf; which she eventually persuades him to remove. She sees a handsome foreigner with a scar running down his face. What is it about this man that attracts her so? He owns the skating rink, but what’s his story? Spending more and more time together the attraction grows into much more. Lily’s life is a mess. A single mother, with two children and pregnant again, married and divorced three times, and working a low paying job; then to top it off, she sees a man murdered on the beach. Not only did she see the murder, the murderer saw her, and he’s trying to kill her. Then add in Ramon, the life guard who saved her when a waterspout came on land just after the murder. Ramon, unknown to Lily, is an undercover cop. Rude, cold, and distant to Lily, Ramon finds himself attracted to her. He has past issues with relationships which impact his perception of Lily.
Lily’s trying to get her life together, attending church and Planted meeting with her new friend, Rose. How can God love her? She has made mistake after mistake, and made bad choices, she thought God could not possibly love or want her. Through study with Rose and the Planted group, Lily finds a miracle. My contemporary Christiansuspensebook review of Lily follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Filled with suspense, danger, and action packed, Lily’s a wonderful inspiring story of Lily, a killer bent on doing her in, and the forgiving grace of God. Payne expertly shows the reader the salvation plan and God’slove for man through her story of Lily. A clean, sweet, emotionalread, filled with wonderful scriptures, sage advice, suspense, and a driven killer, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I could feel Lily’s unbelief that God could love and care for her; as well as, her feelings of unworthiness. Her fear of Jonesy’s palpable as he repeatedly tries to kill her. I have to say, he’s one determined man! A powerful story and wonderful message; with a group of women who become knit together in love for each other and God.
STORY-LINE HIS BROTHER’S BRIDE BY GEORGE H. MCVEY:
In His Brother’s Bride by George H. McVey, the reader finds Greg, Glen, and Lyla’s story. Lyla, with no prospects of marriage in Philadelphia, answers Glen Williams letter for a mail order bride. As you know from Book 1, The Pastor’s Replacement Bride, the Ladies Aid Society of the church had Pastor Bryce write back east for good Christian women who would like to correspond with upstanding men in Sanctuary, Montana Territory; with matrimony in mind.
Lyla answers Glen’s letter; monies are sent to pay her way west, and off she goes on what she thought would be an adventure. Lyla thought everything would be wonderful, a fine adventure ending in marriage and love for her and Glen. Lyla’s outgoing, talkative, and adventurous. Glen’s beyond shy; cold, rude and closed off, he’s unable to talk comfortably to people, especially women; he would rather be on the farm plowing or with the animals and plants.
When his twin brother, Greg, absent for four years, shows up as the stage comes in, his mother knows there’s going to be trouble. These two have always tried to out do each other. Greg’s tired of the cowboy life, he’s ready to start his own ranch, and maybe start a family. He’s immediately smitten with Lyla when she comes off the stage. Glen, plowing at the farm, didn’t even bother to come meet the stage to Lyla’s horror. Taking to her to supper, at his mother insistence, he’s uncommunicative and rude.

Historical Western Romance Novels (The Martin Ranch Saga Book Book 2)
STORY-LINE WHISPER TO ME BY KENT HAMILTON:
Set in West Texas in 1868, Eliza and Christopher are deliriously happy running the Martin Ranch. Married life agrees with both. The old gang of troublemakers ranch hands are gone and the new ones told Eliza’s the owner and boss; do what she says, when she says it.
Adam, new on the ranch, has never failed to break a horse; today’s the day he will fail. Not only does he fail to break the horse, but also loses his bet with Susanna. Susanna, visiting her Aunt Waverly, came to the ranch for after Eliza’s invisitation. A veterinarian’s daughter, she has skill with horses, what we call whispering or horse whisperers today; she offers to teach Adam.
Sparks fly between Adam and Susanna. Unimpressed with her in the beginning, as they work together gentling horses, his admiration for her talent grows. As they grow closer and closer, will a city girl fall for the cowboy rancher? Is trouble brewing on the horizon as the troublemakers are still in town? My romance book reviews of Whisper To Me follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
I found Whisper To Me engaging and enjoyable. Due to the length of short stories and novella, authors can not develop the in-depth characterization and plotting as in a novel. However, Hamilton crafted a short book of 55 pages, filled with action, drama, romance, and a solid complete story-line.
With likeable and believable characters, an intriguing story line, and fast pacing, Hamilton held my attention from the first page to the last. I found Adam a wonderful character; a humble poorly educated man who loved his work. Susanna’s the exact opposite, outgoing and unashamed to show her attraction to Adam. They make a fine couple. You know what they say: opposites attract. Their budding love’ssweet and clean. Hamilton’s characters are well-developed and the pace flows smoothly. All good westerns have a villain; the dastardly Joe is back again in all his evil glory. Joe’s malice and hatred for the Martin Ranch and family spills over. Joe’s a character you will love to hate, along with all his pals.
I look forward to Hamilton’s next book featuring the Martin Ranch. A sweet and cleanromance, I would not hesitate to buy this book for my self or a friend.
The lead story shares the same name as the title; The Amish Best Friends. A wonderful buy with bonus content of 20 stories; for a total of 1708 page. A great deal for any reader who lovesAmish and Christianromances at a surprising low costs of .99. A cleansweetbook suitable for anyone, you will love these stories. I chose to review the lead story, TheAmish Best Friends.
STORY-LINE THE AMISH BEST FRIENDS BY KATIE FISHER:
In the lead story,The Amish Best Friends, Hannah Zook teaches school in Orthause, Pennsylvania. Devout and dedicated to the Amish way of life, when Mennonite Eli Reimer wants to marry her, she’s thrown into a quarry. For Eli demands she join his church, forsaking her Amish church.
When Ezekiel Miller’s murdered, the Englisch, investigating the murder, send Jacob King and his partner to the Amish community. Jacob left the Amish after his rumspringa, becoming a law enforcement officer. Hannah comforts Ezekiel’s wife, Martha, who’s the prime suspect and eventually arrested. As far as Hannah’s concerned, he has arrested the wrong person. She decides to start her own investigation with her best friend Abram Wittmer by her side. My Amishromance book review follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
I found this story well-written and entertaining. Fisher created a first class romancesuspensemystery. Her writing is clear, concise, and easy to follow, as well as, containing scenes which transition smoothly. Fisher keep the mystery and suspense at high peak and did not reveal the murderer until the last possible moment. With several suspects, I did not guess the correct culprit.
I loved the glimpse into the Amish community Fisher provided. Hannah’s character is one of strength and determination. Not only devout in her religion, Hannah’s intelligent. I could feel her confusion and indecision in marriage to Eli. His demands she leave her community, faith, and church did not feel right. As the story progressed, I found I really did not like Eli as I felt he bullied Hannah at times. He expected her to bow down and be a good little woman, following orders.
In the same token, I loved Abram. A kind man who had always been by Hannah’s side, protecting her when needed, and backing her in her choices. When she’s investigating the murder, Abram is by her side, while Eli wants nothing to do with it; demanding she stop. Needless to say, he was not my favorite character. Refusing to relent, Hannah prays and God answers. With God behind her, she continues looking for the murderer, placing herself in danger.
Hannah comes to a revelation during this investigation. Will she let Eli hold her back, forsake her church and community, and become a good little wife? Or will Hannah stand on her feet, refusing to be less than God intended. Hannah’s faith’s the rock she stands on; God and prayer’s the backbone of her life.
The romance is sweet and clean without the use of sex or fluff to fill the pages or carry the story. I found this book a great read with realistic characters and a realistic original premise. With the pace in line with the length of the story, well-developed characters, and an intriguing plot, Fisher crafted an entertaining read. I loved her writing style, the information she included about the Amish, and the original story line. Fisher held my attention from the first pages to the last. The pace flowed smoothly, never bogging down or lagging.
Fisher packed this story with emotion and action in a few short pages; when I finished the story I felt I had read a full novel. Most author’s do not develop the story-line or characters to the depth Fisher managed in 66 pages. A wonderful read for a lazy afternoon. This will not be the last book I read from the pen of talented author Katie Fisher. I would not hesitate to buy this book for my self or a friend.
STORY-LINE HANDSOME WIDOWER’S SECOND CHANCE BY ELLIEE ATKINSON:
Holly Anne and Adam Collins have the perfect marriage in Handsome Widower’s Second Chance. That is, until Holly suddenly dies; Adam’s left with a broken heart and two children to raise. However not only is Adam grieving, but his in-laws, Holly’s brother Nathan, and sister Alice, are deeply grieving. However, Nathan’s grief takes a sad twisted turn as he blames Adam. His grief causes him to do unspeakable things in revenge. Alice, determined to protect the children and help Adam, aligns with him against her brother.
When Nathan kidnaps Alice and the children, she will do anything to save them. Will Adam find Alice and the children in time? Will Nathan’s insane grief led him on a path he can not return from? Can love bloom between Alice and Adam? My western romance book reviews of Handsome Widower’s Second Chance follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Although the feelings between Adam and Alice seem to happen quickly, the reader must realize in the pioneer west, short of women to help with the chores and the household, were scarce. This alone facilitated quick marriages. I loved the slow way Adam and Alice realized their attraction. Of course, Adam is reluctant as Alice looks so much like Holly; he is still grieving her death. The Handsome Widower’s Second Chance is a sweet clean romance between two grieving people.
However, romance is not the main premise of this story. Atkinson demonstrates the low depths we can fall into when grieving for a sudden and expected death. Nathan’s character’s such a person; insane with grief and blaming Adam gives him an outlet for his grief. However, he takes it one step further by kidnapping Alice and the children; as well as, threatening to kill Adam. Nathan is a follower, as well as weak; he fell in with a bad group of low down cow punchers with no regard for women or life. The reader wonders what will happen next. Will Nathan and the gang success in his quest for vengeance? Atkinson kept the suspense at high pitch as Adam races to save Alice and the children.
I found Handsome Widower’s Second Chance, a clean action romance with suspense and thrills. The plotting’s smooth and flowed well with well-developed characters. I found Atkinson’s writing style easy to follow which made this a book perfect for a lazy weekend of reading. I would not hesitate to buy this book for my self or a friend.
HANDSOME WIDOWER’S SECOND CHANCE RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4

Firstly, let me say, how much I enjoyed this fantasyfictionnovel. Although I read and reviewfantasy, it is not my favorite genre. However, Wucaii, was intriguing from the first page and held my attention throughout. I look forward to reading more by Sinclair. Secondly, I found the character development by author Pembroke Sinclair, spot on as she progressively developed each character. With the addition of the

As they work closely together, Jonathan finds Elizabeth’s not a pretty doll; she’s a hard worker with success in mind. CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Love’s Journey, set in 1840 Texas, captures the readers imagination immediately. Elizabeth is far different from the average woman of this time period. Independent and strong, she knows what she wants and goes after it. I loved the
In Lady Lands the Lord, Margaret Kay lay deathly ill at school. Uncle Martin Dawnton, Duke of Wardington, promises if she will live, she may live whatever life she wants. Bent on never falling in love or marrying, Roger and fate have a date. For fate has other things in mind for Roger and Margaret. A laughter filled romp with a touch of mystery through Regency England, my review of Lady Lands The Lord follows.
STORY-LINE SMUGGLERS & SCONES BY MORGAN C. TALBOT:
In Smuggles & Scones, Pippa Winterbourne operates Moorehaven Bed and Breakfast. Formerly owned by well-own internationally famous mysteryauthor, A. Raymond Moore; he left the house with instructions which included, the Bed and Breakfast guests must be authors. Authors come to the B&B to rest, play games, eat, plot, and write. By the way, they are as zany as the residents.
The zaniness begins when a boat wrecks on the rocks and Pippa with her bunny slippers pull to safety handsome pilot Lake. He has no memory of the wreck, the large lump on his head, or the dead man on the boat. Pippa takes the responsibility of caring for Lake; which is a pleasure for her, she’s attracted to Lake.
I loved the residents in Smuggles & Scones; zany, quirky, noisy, and ready at the drop of a hat to help each other. Talbot has a finger on the pulse of small town America. The authors fit right in as they cause all kinds of problems for Pippa and the town. When I started the book, I found myself thinking: this one is not for me. Boy was I wrong; as I finished the first chapter, I was enthralled with the Pippa and the rest of the crew.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Will she ever be able to forgive his horrendous treatment of her? My romance book review of The Vengeful Groom follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Oh my, what a short story Shae created. Although short stories and novellas can not develop the characters or story-line in the depth of the their parent, the novel, Shae packed this short story with emotion. I felt so sorry for Caroline I almost cried. Living a life of subjugation, discouragement, and belittling, she thought she had found her knight in shining armor. However, Caroline finds continuation of her earlier life. Carolina never lost her faith in God’s goodness; praying for Thomas daily. Hoping for her happy ever after dream to come true.

Witemeyer’s characters live in an all woman town, Harper’s Station; the sheriff and goods transporter the only men allowed. I loved how the town, filled with women, supported and loved each other as family. What a unique and original job Whitimeyer gave Grace. Whitimeyer included the inequity of pay and positions for women during this time period.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
I lovecozy mysteries and rarely do I correctly guess who is the murderer. This book’s no different. Sotheby crafted a fast-paced book filled with clues, and possible villains. I found the pacing correct for the length of the book and the characters well-developed. I loved Albert’s character; he’s a hoot. Diane and Albert compliment each other. I enjoyed the snips and snarks they tossed around. Diane, a motherly caring woman on the surface; far from matronly she has an inquisitive mind and the skill to sort out a mystery. Including several worthy culprits, and a surprise ending, I found this a good cozy mystery.

Come along with Charity as she discovers all gossip’s not true and love could be waiting in the wings. My romance book review of Hope For Charity follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
I found Hope For Charity a sweet clean romance. Although Charity’s character is a naïve young woman, she knows she wants to marry for love. Social position mean little to her. She has a caring heart which differs from most of the ton. Neville’s allowed his reputation to flourish which will cause him a great deal of problems with Charity. Furthermore, including the Neville’s brother, added an extra ingredient to the story; as a result, allowing Charity to see a side of Neville the gossips did not. We know today, the brother was a victim of PTSD. Charity comes to see the true Neville rather than his soiled reputation.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, AND DEVELOPMENT:
Although Wicked and Haunted, is the first book of this series I have read, it’s not the last. I plan to read all the earlier books. Filled with zany characters, hilarious snips, and snarky dialogue, I laughed continuously. A short read of 56 pages, When Leaves Fall, is an intense read. Ralph wakes in a place he does recognize. His vision’s cloudy and he’s disoriented. Ralph realizes he’s in a poorly constructed shack, and of all things, he’s chained allowing him limited movement. He can vaguely remember his family and he knows they will search for him when they realize what has happened. For love is a two-way street; he loves them and they love him.
Do not let the page count of this short book fool you. Although short in pages, it’s packed with emotion from the first page to the last page; it packs a huge punch and will leave you emotionally spent. My tears started almost immediately as I read of the abuse Ralph endured from his unknown assailant. I quickly became emotionally involved in the story-line. For such a short story, King skillfully packed as much emotion and story into the 56 pages as a lot of writers can produce in a full novel. It takes skill to produce an intelligent, well-developed, and well-paced story in 56 pages; King managed this feat well.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Emerald Fire continues the epic story of Mara, who finds all’s not lost when Dægan died. Seven years after his death, Breandán comes to escort Mara home to her dying father. Creating a story filled with conflict, long-held secrets, conspiracies, and, of course romance, Jenkins continued her tale of Viking honor. Breandán is the perfect knight in shining amour, kind, compassionate, giving, and honorable. Mara knew he had declared his love 7 years earlier, however, she wondered could that love have survived this long time. As the saying goes, “true love is timeless”.
