The Rich Girl Loses Everything
Western Adventure As A Mail Order Bride
Addison Haley is a privileged rich young woman in Baltimore. At least she was until the police arrested her father for embezzlement. Addison, her mother, and young brother Benjamin, are forced to move into her Grandmother’s home. Her mother has retreated into her own world, Addison has lost everything including her reputation, and her Grandmother is going to send Benjamin to England for schooling. Addison sees no alternative; she must go west as a mail order bride.
What she finds waiting in Derby, Kansas is a nightmare; a disgusting foul bridegroom going by the name Walter Brisco, a run down ranch, no money, no animals, and no food. They also meet the Sheriff, Paul Newton, who is handsome, polite and clean.
Come along with Addison and Benjamin as they discover life in the old west and perhaps love.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING AND DEVELOPMENT:
Author Annie Boone’s characters grow through the short story. Addison will find a strong woman resides within her; she is no longer a spoiler rich child. She will face adversity and danger; through it all she will maintain her faith in God. The story is one of deception by the groom, crime, and rescue by the knight in shining armor.
Walter Brisco’s occupation and activities added mystery to the story. Though short, the story’s pacing was good.
This is a short, clean, easy read. This book is suitable for anyone.
