Request For Help With Benefit by Christian Author Kari L. Trumbo

REQUEST FROM

Kari L. Trumbo

Historical Christian Romance Author

A benefit for James “Ticky-Man” Bailey.

My godson James, aged four and a half, was diagnosed with DIPG, Diffused Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, about a month ago. Since then, he’s struggled with losing mobility on his right side and has gone from incredibly articulate to struggling with communication. The tumor affects breathing and blood pressure. It almost exclusively occurs in children. He has to undergo daily radiation treatments. It is for this reason that this week, from 7/23/17 to 7/29/17, I am donating every cent of my royalties to the Bailey family.

I have set up a page where you can select any of my available books, so shopping is easy.

If you have all of my books, or aren’t interested at this time, I’ve also included the GoFundMe link. If you simply can’t help right now, can you share this with others? Clicking on either image will take you to the page and you can share directly from there. Thank you in advance for your help.

DIPG is currently a terminal diagnosis, but any funds remaining will go to fund research for DIPG.

Thank you.

Kari L. Trumbo

From the GoFundMe page:

If you ever met James he would steel your heart in a minute with his uplifting personality and his charming wink. He brightens any room with his contagious belly laugh and fearless attitude. On June 29th our world came crashing down around us when we received the news that our beautiful 4 1/2 year old boy was diagnosed with Diffused Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This is a rare, inoperable brain tumor which is found on the Pons region of the brain stem. This is the part of the brain which controls many critical functions including breathing and blood pressure and this kind of tumor occurs almost exclusively in children. Unfortunately due to its rarity scientists do not know what causes the DIPG tumor, have a cure or even a better treatment option than radiation to this region of the brain. Because of the DIPG tumor the left side of James body has been effected, making it very hard for our once fiercely independent boy to walk on his own as well as use his left arm and hand. It has also effected his speech. James, who once had a very advanced and articulate vocabulary has now slipped backwards in his communication and fights to speak he way he once did. We are strating a fund to help with medical expenses and will be donating the remaining funds to help in the research of DIPG.

Benefit will run from July 23, 2017 – July 29, 2017. Click on the cover of any of the books below for more information. If my books are not your cuppa joe, here is a link to James’s GoFundMe page.

Kari Trumbo is one of four authors in the best-selling Cutter’s Creek series. She writes Christian Historical Romance and is a stay-at-home mom to four vibrant children. When she isn’t writing, or editing, she home schools her children and pretends to keep up with them. Kari loves reading, listening to contemporary Christian music, singing when no one’s listening, and curling up near the wood stove when winter hits. She makes her home in central Minnesota with her husband of almost twenty years, two daughters, two sons, three cats, and one hungry wood stove.

Look around the site, pull up a comfy chair, and steep a cup of tea. My favorites are blueberry and chai. Leave me a comment, I’d love to hear from you.

Thick as thieves, they are seldom apart.  As time passes, Ray realizes her feelings turn into adult love for her best friend.  Then her world falls apart. The Ducharmes have ordered Billy a bride from back East.

The picture of perfection, Rebecca DuCastille’s is everything Ray’s not.  Beautiful, poised, charming, Rebecca is a lady while Ray is the shepherd’s daughter.  Wild haired, hard-working, an unladylike tomboy, and opinionated, Ray’s determined she will not go down gently;  she will fight for Billy’s love.  How far is Ray willing to go to get Billy to choose her for his wife?  Will Rebecca win Billy’s heart or will perfect Rebecca win the day?  Is romance in the air?   My reviews for western romance novel The Shepherd’s Daughter follows.

Hog Killing Day On The Farm

STOP:  IF YOU ARE AN ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVIST, EMOTIONAL, OR TENDER-HEARTED, PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS POST.  THIS IS THE DESCRIPTION OF THE SLAUGHTERING OF HOGS FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION AS IT WAS DONE ON FAMILY FARMS ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY FOR MANY DECADES!

We were poor country people; no different than anyone else in our small community.  We grew what we ate and shopped at a country store on credit for what we could not grow.

market-893319_640

The pork and beef you buy in those beautiful packages at the grocery and meat market has to be slaughtered and packed at a processing plant.  We did not have this luxury when I was a girl.  We had to slaughter and process our own meat to feed the family.

DAYS BEFORE “HOG KILLING DAY”:

Dad had to gather everything he would need for Hog Killing Day and have it ready and waiting.  He placed all the wash-pots where they needed to be, tables setup, gun and shells ready, the scalding vat was ready for use, water hoses to wash out the gutted hogs, 50 lb bags of salt for pickle, lard stands, ham box ready, and he had wood for the fires. Mom gathered all the knives, pots and

Life On A Tobacco Farm

tobacco-16771_640

Life on a tobacco farm was hard back-breaking work.

I grew up in the South during a time when tobacco was King.  Everyone we knew grew, harvested, and cured tobacco in eastern rural North Carolina.

It was our cash crop and the only way of making a living for our families.  This was before we knew how harmful tobacco products were to our health.

We rose early on the farm when tobacco season was in full swing.  My father would rise around 4 in the

It is So Cold

Well, folks, here on the crystal coast the temperature dropped to 18 degrees last night. Cold is an understatement.  Ivera at hoover dam am starting a new book for review today, The Skeleton In The Closet by Angie Fox.  As everyone knows,  she is a very talented author.  I love her books and can’t wait to read this one.

I hope to post the review by week’s end, that is, if live doesn’t interfere.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday yesterday celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Did anyone do anything special?  Give us a shout out!

Will post again later this week with process.

Hello Everyone

This week I am in Raleigh NC with my hubby, attending a conference for his job.

I am reading a wonderful book by Brad Meltzer. If you like a good political thriller, then Meltzer is your man.  Murder, old secrets, a President that is not fit for job he is so disgusting, political intrigue, a secret organization, betrayal by friends, this book has it all.  I hope to finish it either today or tomorrow and will post asap.

I hope to post a recipe for the round up I use on Friday. I found it on the internet, but can not remember the site it was on.  It works very well.  If anyone recognizes the recipe and it is yours or you know the site it came from, let me know and I will post credit.

I am trying a new DIY toothpaste also, I don’t want to post this until I have tried it for a few months as it is supposed to cure cavities, yes, you read that right, well, we will see as I have one a tooth.

I am off to read some more of the Meltzer book.

Hello World

How is everyone on this HOT HOT Wednesday?

I am late with this week’s review because the book I was reviewing had editing problems. Soooooo, I gave up, it was too distracting. Good story but pages were in the wrong places and other things.

I have started a new book and hope to have it up before the week ends.

Stay cool, remember to hydrate as much as possible in this heat.

Wear light color clothing (at least thats what my mama always said)

Remember our pets are just as hot as we are, leave them plenty of water and place them in a shaded area if you cannot bring them inside. Check on them frequently and, as always,  have your vets phone number handy in case it is needed.

Hello World

I hope all of you are doing well on this wet Friday. Rain, Rain go away! As you see below I finished my latest book, sorry for the delay, we were all over everywhere this week with doctors and therapy. I hope you enjoy the review.  The book was very good. I will be reviewing a horror anthology next week. So get ready to be scared.

Nascar races this week, Yahoo!  Go Junior!!!!!!!

Have a great weekend.

Vera

Hello Everyone

I started a new book today.  Due to doctors appointments the next several days, I can’t post my review as quickly. I will post as soon as possible.

Nascar race was good yesterday.  My boy, Junior did not do very well, but, hey, that’s ok he’s still my man.  Just one time I would love for the radio announcers to call the televised race. I love how excited the radio broadcasters get calling the race, can you imagine seeing what they call! No, I can’t put the radio on the tv, it’s too big and it would drive me crazy to hear the race from one part of the room and see it in another.

I need to make more shampoo and hair conditioner, I will post those recipes soon. I also make a good hair spray, very simple and works great for pennies rather than dollars. I will so post a few sites for lots of DIY recipes.

It is time to make my DIY weed killer, works great, I will also post that soon. Only thing I have found it will not kill is poison oak and sumac.  Boy, poison oak and sumac are tough.

Will post again soon

vera

Finished my latest book, Finally His Bride, the review follows.
My next book is a little longer than some, it will take me a little longer to read, but it sounds like a goody.
See ya next time.
