STORY-LINE A BRUSH WITH THE BEAST BY RICHARD SONES:

In A Brush With The Beast the world as we know it is about to end.  Three people will find their lives turned upside down as the Beast prepares the world for the final fight between good and evil.  Nick Gooseberry, ultra rich and in indescribable pain, finds a group called “The Order” has the answers to his health problems.  As he descends into evil, the world’s sent into chaos.  Fanak’s, a bitter youth, filled with hatred for Israel and America becomes the ultimate terrorist.  Sarah Johnson, poor and unattractive with a drug habit, finds herself framed by her boss.  While in jail she meets a Christian and develops a thirst for the Bible and God.  Survival in the coming world will be hard, and when the Beast finds she’s pregnant, she and her child are in jeopardy.  A new world’s coming and survival of body and soul are at stake.  My book reviews of A Brush With The Beast follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Richard Sones gives the reader views from three people, each important in the coming battle.  Nick’s character’s the ultimate rich man;  concerned only with himself, money, and power, power, power.  Fanak’s filled with evil, a need for vengeance, religious extremism, and hatred for the Great Satan.  Sarah’s a lost soul who finds salvation in Jesus.

Although interweaving three characters’ stories into a single plot, Sones scenes transition smoothly and his writing flows well.  The story-line flows naturally and fluidly as Sones takes the reader into a chaotic world ushering in the Antichrist.  Using Bible scripture, Sones highlights the salvation plan and the coming events.  Whether you are religious, believe in the “end of days” or are a non-believer, this book will grab you and not let go.  From each character’s backstory, pagan rituals, the Mark of Beast, the Tribulation, and world domination, I found myself glued to my E-reader.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Diamonds For Christmas is a second chance sweet romance.  A short read of seventy-seven pages, the reader finds a cute, sincere, abiding, love story.  Ruby has ghosts she must face and lay to rest before she can commit to Declan again.  However, fear has her in its grip.  Meanwhile, Declan is determined Ruby will not get away again.

Murder Is A Monkey’s Game by Ruby Loren

Mystery (Madigan Amos Zoo Mysteries Book 3)

Murder Is A Monkey's Game
Murder Is A Monkey’s Game

MURDER IS A MONKEY’S GAME BY RUBY LOREN:

In author Ruby Loren‘s latest book, Murder Is A Monkey’s Game, Madi and Lowell are in France.  Madie’s helping a zoo improve their habituates and environment for the animals.  Suddenly a paraglider falls from the sky into the Bengal tiger habituate.  Lowell immediately recognizes the victim;  a man from Lowell’s dark and mysterious past.

When two mysterious agents turn up in the village asking lots of questions, things heat up for Lowell and Madi.  As the victims continue to mount, Madi’s in the middle of another murder investigation;  with everyone suspects, including Lowell.  My cozy mystery book reviews of Murder Is A Monkey’s Game follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Author Ruby Loren crafted a Madigan Amos cozy mystery which entertains and holds the reader‘s attention.  The romance between Madi and Lowell’s sweet and clean as they continue to form a relationship.  Of course, Madi’s a magnet for murder, and this job is no different.

With a multitude of suspects and few clues, Madi will have to dig hard to find the who, why, and what, involved in this case. Ruby Loren skillfully concealed the identity of the murderer among a cast of many;  revealing the why and who at the last possible moment.  I was blown away when the murderer’s shown, as well as, the reason for the crimes.  I did not consider this person as the culprit.  As a detective, I would be a bust.

Including the cute, but mischievous monkeys, provided classic moments of animal behavior.  They are first-class monkey rascals who get into many monkey high-jinks;  adding bits of humor and laughter.  Also, Loren included in a sweet dog who provided many laughs at her owner’s expense.

Story-Line Buzzy And Thomas Move Into The President’s House by Vicki Tashman

In Buzzy and Thomas Move Into The President’s House, author Vicki Tashman, created an excellent story and teaching tool for young children.  Buzzy, a beautiful female dog, lives a glamorous life in the country.  Her master, Thomas Jefferson, newly elected President of the United States, is moving to the President’s house.  Buzzy is not sure about leaving her beloved country life and all her friends.

Come and follow Buzzy as she comes to terms with the move.  My children’s fiction book reviews of Buzzy and Thomas Move Into The President’s House follows.

Characters, Plotting, Development:

What an excellent teaching book for children.  In Buzzy And Thomas Move Into The President’s House, not only will the child learn history, but also how to handle a move.  Moving is always traumatic for a child;  Buzzy gives the child a different view of moving.  Reading this story several times before the move will give the child/children a reference to Buzzy’s experience. The child or children need not be in the progress of moving to enjoy this story. This book is geared for young children ages 4-8.  The pictures will hold the young child‘s interest, and the story is interesting. The story’s well-developed with a variety of interesting characters.

In concluding my children’s fiction book reviews of Buzzy And Thomas Move Into The President’s House, I found a solidly written story which will hold the child‘s attention.  An excellent teaching tool, the book‘s well constructed with well-thought-out characters. With the length of 42 pages, the child or children will not become bored. For younger children, the book need not be read in one

STORY-LINE LITERALLY MURDER BY ERYN SCOTT:

Pepper and Liv are in the last year of college;  each is looking forward to the future, but sad they will part.   Alec has been to law enforcement training and just returned.  Things are a little different between Pepper and Alec; they can’t seem to connect as they did before he left and frustration’s setting in.

When Pepper finds a student face down in the creek, Alec insists she stay out of the case.  Of course, Pepper does her best, but everyone keeps bringing her clues.  What’s she to do?  She fields the clues to Alex and his father.  However, when two more girls turn up dead, Pepper’s has a hard time setting on the sidelines.  Then when Liv’s life’s in harm’s way, Pepper is off and running.  My book review of Literally Murder follows.

CHARACTER, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Eryn Scott‘s writing keeps getting better and better.  Scott sank the hook in early and held me on the line until the final page.  Filling Literally Murder with intrigue, mystery, suspense, and quotes from Hemingway.  With a quick quote for any given situation, Pepper’s deep in classes on Hemingway with Professor Evensworth.

Scott kept the mystery and suspense at high peak and did not reveal the killer until the last possible moment.  To say I was surprised would be an understatement.  I never considered this person.  Scott matured Pepper in this book;  she’s not as ready to accuse after what happened in book 1.  However, she has quite a cast of suspects to choose from until they each come up with an alibi.

Favorite Coffee 1-4

This is a boxed set of Victoria Pinder‘s Favorite Coffee Series 1-4.  I chose to review two of these wonderful stories.  Four books for the price of one.  What a deal!

FAVORITE COFFEE FAVORITE MISTAKE

STORY-LINE FAVORITE COFFEE FAVORITE MISTAKE BY VICTORIA PINDER:

In Favorite Coffee Favorite Mistake, the reader finds two lovers torn apart years ago.  Sandra Marshall and Wyatt meet on-board Penny’s wedding cruise again.  Sandra, as the wedding planner, must see all goes well;  hoping to transition from former wedding shop owner to wedding planner as a result of her supervision and planning.  Wyatt, along with his small daughter, is on-board for the wedding.  Both mothers, of the bride and groom, I would graciously describe as mothers from hell.

After Wyatt left Sandra, his high school love, he married and had a daughter.  However, there is much more to this story.  Sandra and Wyatt not only have to see the wedding goes off without disruption but resolve issues from the past.  My reviews for the romance novel, Favorite Coffee Favorite Mistake, follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Favorite Coffee Favorite Mistake by Victoria Pinder takes the reader on a wedding cruise filled with vengeful mothers, a very much in love wedding couple, friends galore, and high school lovers with issues to resolve.  I found the plot fast-paced and steady along with well-developed characters.  The reasons behind Wyatt’s desertion of Sandy all those years ago empathized what a good man Wyatt was;  he’s one with a deep sense of responsibility.   Add in his adorable daughter, Charlotte, and the reader will lose their heart.  What a sweet child.

Also, you will love to hate the mothers.  What pieces of work.  Excellent work, Ms. Pinder, in creating obnoxious villains.  Sandy is a hard-working woman, who never loved again.  As a result, Wyatt’s the only man she had ever wanted.  She is ready and willing to hear Wyatt’s explanations.  As the romance begins to feel the air, will Wyatt and Sandy overcome past mistakes?

The Everett Exorcism

STORY-LINE THE EVERETT EXORCISM BY LINCOLN COLE:

Father Niccolo Paladina arrives in Everett to investigate a report of demon possession.  Quickly Paladina realizes something’s not right in Everett.  Although he can not put his finger on the problem, he feels the strangeness in every cell of his body.

As strange things begin to happen an old enemy shows up;  Paladina realizes things are spiraling out of control. He’s in for the surprise of a lifetime as he discovers demons exist;  not as part of his imagination, but in the real world.  His horror increases as he finds the citizens of Everett are in serious trouble.  My book reviews of The Everett Exorcism follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Where do I start with this review?  I am not sure I can do the book justice;  however, I will attempt to peak your interest in this captivating bookLincoln Cole hooked me in the chilling prologue and held me in the palm of his hand through the rest of the book.  As I read The Everett Exorcism, I found my heart pounding and chills on my arms. What an intriguing, scary read!

Father Niccolo Paladina, Father Jackson Reynolds, and demon Hunter Arthur Vangeest bring realism to this tale of demons, God, and the Catholic Church.  I loved watching the characters grow and mature as Cole fully developed their style and personality.  Cole included an array of secondary characters which brought depth to the storyline.  As a result, The Everett Exorcism‘s an intense, action-packed drama of the age-old battle between good and evil.  With elements of the paranormal, horror, religion, greed, and power, Cole crafted an intriguing emotional tale;  including an Exorcist who does not believe in demons brought originality and realism to the story.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Laura Durham filled Night Of The Living Wed with ghosts, mystery, suspense, snarky banter, humor, and fun galore.  With a cast of wonderfully funny characters, I laughed out loud as they investigated the activity.  It’s hard for me to pick my favorite character;  Annabelle’s team’s filled with people who are from all walks of life.  Including the dog was an excellent stroke, what a pampered cutie.  Every good mystery must have an antagonist;  Durham gave us two in this funny tale of mystery and ghosts.  The web blogger who’s exploiting the ghostly visitations on the internet and Brianna, rival wedding planner;  you will love to hate Brianna.  How did she and the blogger happen to be at the same resort as Annabelle?

Dan Sofer created an original, tantalizing, and intriguing drama in An Unexpected Afterlife.  Filled with fascinating facts of the Jewish faith, I found myself enthralled.  I have always wondered about the culture, practices, and worship of the Jewish religionSofer answered an array of my questions.  With vivid descriptions and skillful prose, Sofer grabbed me immediately and did not let go.

Sofer introduced a tantalizing concept through Rabbi Yosef of the valley of dry bones, the Resurrection of the Dead, the Prophet Elijah, and revelation of the Messiah.  If you are not familiar with Ezekiel 37, I partially quoted from the King James Version of the Bible below;  for more extensive reading see the above chapter in the Bible or on the internet.

Allie invested every cent she had in the partnership.  With rent due, she heads across the country to Bear Creek Saddle, Idaho and Bill.  However, she’s arriving almost out of gas, down to her last few pennies, and two weeks early.   To say their first meeting did not go well would be an understatement.  Allie can not afford to back out of the deal at this point, but upon seeing the run down nasty diner, sparks fly between Bill and Allie.

God has a plan for these two broken people.  With faith, love, and God on their side, Allie and Bill could have something beautiful.  Will they grab on and not let go?  My inspirational romance book reviews of Second Chances For Trampled Hearts follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Shoshanna Gabriel created a firecracker of a story in Second Chances For Trampled Hearts.  The sparks fly around Bill and Allie as they square off. Sparks of attraction, disappointment, and anger.  I loved Bill’s characters; his dry humor was so much like my son-in-law.  Allie’s always primed and ready to explode at the drop of a hat.  What a feisty woman!  When she goes off on Bill, which she did over and over, I laughed and giggled.  My husband would never stand still for what Allie dished out to Bill.

Each had their own point of view.  Allie did not hesitate telling Bill what she thought;  she had a  dream of what the diner could become.  Each had strong opinions, and they butted heads often.  Bill’s determined to have his way while Allie’s determined to bring him around to her way of thinking;  making the reader wonder if a compromise is in their vocabulary.  I loved watching them spar and dance around each other.  Also, I loved that Shoshanna Gabriel gave Bill and Allie morals and standards.  It was terrific to find they would go no further than kissing unless united in marriage.

Author Eleanor Kittering created a fun-filled wonderful story in Murder At The Art Gallery.  I laughed through the prologue of Roger and his guardian angel.  Roger’s a wonderful character as a human and a cat.  When he jumped the vagrant and other funny episodes Kittering created, I cheered for him.  What a cat!  I found Mandy a strong young woman with a strong sense of justice.   Along with her friends and Roger the cat, they join forces to solve David’s murder;  as amateur investigators, they did a great job.  Their sleuthing bore results they did not expect.

Author Isabella Thorne created a tale of curses, an evil book, romance, and family dynamics.  I found Ruby a strong character with moral fiber.  Determined to carry out the Earl’s wishes, she’s willing to lose what she wants most.  The family dynamics included in this tale show jealousy, greed, and the willingness to do anything to process this evil book.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Joyce Alec created a charming story of abandonment and planned revenge, filling it with vivid descriptions, heartache, romance.  I loved watching Alice grow from insecure and sad to a woman of worth and strength.  Joyce Alec created an intriguing tale of a woman bent on revenge and retribution and a man who is not what he seems.

William’s character shows the world a face of gaiety and fun; almost as if he had never faced the situation he found his life.  Alec created a façade of a man carefree and fancy-free;  attending balls, dancing the night away, and flirting with the women of the Ton.  Is there more to William than meets the eye?  Alice’s plan seems to have the opposite effect she intended as she and William throw words and dance around each other.

STORY-LINE THE GOVERNESS WHO STOLE MY HEART BY HANNA HAMILTON:

Left at altar by, Simon the Duke of Lennox brother, Susan Wilton continues teaching school in her village;  hiding her anger, shame, and grief deep inside.  She’s not afraid of being a spinster. Her mom wonders if she will ever marry.  Daniel, a childhood friend home from the navy, begins to court Susan.  Then Susan receives a wonderful offer to teach the Duke’s daughter and care for the motherless child.  A sad lonely little girl, who’s ignored by her father, Susan can not say no.

As the Duke and Susan work together, they become closer and closer.  Daniel increases his suite.  With two men vying for her hand, things take a turn, who will she choose?  My historical romance book reviews follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Author Hanna Hamilton created a historical novel filled with twists and turns and the dynamics of relationships.  Hamilton skillfully wove romance in this story-line.  Susan sees problems with a sea Captain whose home little, always at a different port.  Hamilton showed her worry and hesitation in forming such a marriage.  Daniel’s character’s a gentleman, with manners, and morals.  John, the Duke of Lennox, is a sad man who has grieved the loss of his wife in child-birth for years;  blaming the child.  I felt so sorry for both, John and his daughter, Elizabeth.  John, for all he’s missing in his misplaced blame and Elizabeth in the loss of a close relationship with her father.  Hanna Hamilton added in family dynamics in John’s relationship with his brother, Simon.  Also, he’s far different from others of the ton;  he works hard on the estate and cares little for social position.  I loved watching him open up and let go of his grief.

Susan’s a strong woman, who refuses to make decisions on the spur of the moment.  She’s torn between two good men;  each with much to offer and each having draw backs.  She was reluctant to give either man an answer.  A teacher and nurturer at heart, she takes Elizabeth into her heart.   It’s wonderful to watch Elizabeth bloom under Susan’s tutelage and care.  Susan’s character’s not a saint; she has issues just as all of us do.  Issues she must face and resolve.
